Once upon a time in Ireland...

Emily and I went to Ireland and Spain in the spring with our friends Joanna and Robbie. This was our first 'real' trip together out of the country... Well except for our honeymoon to Mexico, but you don't really end up seeing much on a honeymoon so we count this as our first :) So to put it plainly, this trip didn't go exactly as planned... more plainly, everything went wrong! Lets see if I can put it all in one paragraph...

Joanna and Robbie's plane didn't get in 'til the next day, we booked our hotels in advance in other cities and never got to them so we lost our deposit money, we found out our international phone card wasn't so international, the car rental company decided to add $50 a day in extra fees, they drive on the other side of the road, they have no road signs, couldnt get a hold of Joanna, stalled in many intersections, almost hit a few signs, food was SO expensive!, Spain was the same with the road signs, we got our car towed, Joanna and I spent 3 hours trying to find our way back to the hostel after picking it up, Emily and I got pregnant... (unexpected but good. :)) etc...

Thats the main gist of all the problems. HOWEVER!, the trip was still extremely fun. After you've traveled for a while you just get used to things going wrong and rolling with it. I would love to go back to either country (Spain more than Ireland, it was so beautiful!) and spend a couple weeks just traveling around. FYI, you don't need a car in Spain. The transportation there is more than efficient to get you from city to city and everything is walking distance once you are in a particular location. I wish we knew this ahead of time. Ireland, on the other hand, you need a car. If we had more time we would have gone from Dublin all the way to Dingle, but we didn't get the chance.
